Mermaids

They stood at the root of the water’s edge,
staring into salty rings of white and vine,
Thinking of Rachel.
She died last year, when the tides were cold and weary.
They won’t go there.
It didn’t seem fair to still love something so beautiful
without knowing why.
Tattered lace and tiny fingers rest the delicate surface
that is creviced by time and wiser than yesterday.
But to love at all seemed to shift the clouds caught in current.
Slowly. Softly.
Everything is plagued by the shadows of memory and
smells of dusty orange peels.
Four slender hands fuse the curve of skinny hip bones
as a modicum of silence swallows the air
with shards of patterned sunlight.
“Don’t worry.”  she said.  “We’ll be mermaids when we grow up.”

The Writing Wall

Affronted by a (practically) nonexistent warning sign, the weather-beaten plastic dangling idly from a nearby telephone pole, clearly stated, Private Property . Even though our previous attempt at this location resulted in a prying patrol car… the graffiti mural, a derelict carcass of a once prominent amusement park, was obviously too wicked to pass blindly. Sprinting around with certain schoolgirl giddiness, the ridiculous amount of camerawhoring was starting to feel like some new Olympic sport. But before finally fleeing the scene, we noticed the black and red letters smeared across the far right side of the building that perhaps claimed an excuse to previous visitors. ' The Devil Made Me Do It' . Disturbing to small degrees, it did seem outwardly apropos to our deviant trespassing acquisition… our forbidden spray paint entertainment. In the Dugout

Happy Friday... xxx Vintage faux fur, Jessica Simpson boots, liquid leggings (can't believe I scored these at Target, of all places), misc jewelry (vintage & costume).

You'll find us amongst the fields of light

Considering the original destination for this set of pictures has since transformed into a future development site, swarming with what my friend incessantly referred to as ‘sweaty construction dudes’, we nixed the idea and pressed forward. Insert operation plan B. After several minutes of semi-deliberation fading into the background of the Eagles Hotel California , we ended up on an obscure road that led only to fields of corn and unexplainable light falling over us like curtains. But finally, my sharp-shoulder infatuation has been commemorated. ( Queen's Wardrobe Long Devil T with added DIY shoulder pads, Forever 21 skirt, Colin Stuart ankle boots)
