CCV 'Interiors' @ Gristle Art Gallery x Trekell Art Supplies

On November 14, 2015, Gristle Art Gallery and Trekell Art Supplies proudly present ‘Interiors,’ a Copycat Violence Art Collective group exhibition. Featuring a new collection of work from Copycat Violence’s international artists, each piece was created using an 8×10” cradled Trekell George H. Simkims birch panel in a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums. Delving into the nadir of mind, body and soul, where darkness and light merge with fluid relation, ‘Interiors’, explores the tortuous chambers of desire, fear, dreamscapes and nightmares. Breaching the walls of our haunting inner demons, unresolved feelings, nuanced emotions, and unspoken words, each artist renders their own unique interpretations and surreal visions. Opening Reception: November 14, 2015  Exhibition Dates: November 14- January 31, 2016 Gristle Art Gallery 26 Bushwick Ave. | Brooklyn NY 11211 For additional information, please contact the collective and/or gallery direct...

Mermaids

They stood at the root of the water’s edge, staring into salty rings of white and vine, Thinking of Rachel. She died last year, when the tides were cold and weary. They won’t go there.   It didn’t seem fair to still love something so beautiful without knowing why. Tattered lace and tiny fingers rest the delicate surface that is creviced by time and wiser than yesterday.  But to love at all seemed to shift the clouds caught in current. Slowly. Softly.   Everything is plagued by the shadows of memory and smells of dusty orange peels. Four slender hands fuse the curve of skinny hip bones as a modicum of silence swallows the air with shards of patterned sunlight. “Don’t worry.”  she said.  “We’ll be mermaids when we grow up.” ~Bella Harris

Nightwalk over to me

Lazy rain infested afternoon = lounging and painting, tea-drinking and singing songs about my boyfriend (the kind I'd only subject him to hearing), more painting and lounging, and boohooing over shoes I wish I owned.

Messing around in the studio. Happy Friday, lovelies!   Funny: "Weekends don't really count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."

The love of my life addiction

Celebrating our first year together, and I'm so indescribably grateful to have such an amazing, loving, and talented man in my life!

Vertical Limits

I'd been working for several hours, grinding myself into new pieces of poetry, when Emem of We Love Colors told me they were sending over a gift. Insert extreme jubilation. Tights (and all things of that nature) are a great annex to any outfit and something that effortlessly transforms the dynamics of mood as well as your ornamental aesthetic the moment you slide into them. When I saw the cosmic assortment of colors, sizes, and styles ranging from tights and leggings to knee highs and thigh highs, and even fishnets stockings, I knew it would take all of a second to discover a handful of favorites. And that's exactly what happened. So e ven amidst the crazy weather here in St. Louis, I donned my b&w Vertical Striped Thigh Highs like my very own social armor and set out for a 14-degree photo session that I'll be posting very soon.

G L A M O R O U S

I have a sweet tooth. Stephani, owner and jewelry designer of Glamorous Republik, sent over a few pieces from her magical collection and everything reminds me of a pretty little candy cliffhanger you can't wait to get back to. With a flirtatious aesthetic that's hard to resist, they meld effortlessly into the various styles and silhouettes already existing within my wardrobe. To make things even sweeter, there's the aggregate structure of beads and charms that balance every last glamorous detail, and each time I look at them, I notice something I hadn't before. I love that. What inspires your collection? One of my favorite places to visit is Melrose Ave, in California. Many girls there are always dressed edgy and punk, however they look so put together and pretty at the same time. They may have piercings, chains, and tattoos all over them, but also have light pink hair, a pretty dress...
