Geometric surfaces

Cold cement cylinders, three dollar studded leggings from Walmart, shag that radiates at the edges in insipid blue light, the transformation from pink to blood-stained lips, tapestry platform shoes, text messages, pointless shopping, Starbucks, spray-painted codes that are completely meaningless to me, and birds chirping amongst barren treetops.

Weekly News: Recording artist, Alex Niedt (the love of my life) just released his own rendition of Tim Buckley's Song To The Siren, (you might recognize this song from the films The Lovely Bones and Lost Highway), so please support Alex's music by downloading his new single, now available on iTunes and Amazon. It would mean the world to us!

Brooklyn cinder block

I want to tell you about Max Steiner, one of my favorite new designers whose visionary buoyancy sheds new light on his innate talent to see outside the box. When I was first contacted by Max, about a week ago, I did what anyone would do. I browsed his website. And as an artist, was instantly drawn to the various elements of his inspiring collections. Conceptualizing the simplicity of paper folding, Max tells me, "Folding paper since I was five years old has led to my ORIGAMI collection, one of my most popular. Working in an industrial neighborhood in Brooklyn has led to the development of the CINDER BLOCK collection." And the results are flawlessly executed. Not only does he incorporate an organic wearability through his architectural jewelry, but the fact that he does so with such an influential voice of his everyday surroundings, adds an extraordinary amount of intimacy that's hard to come by. Thank you, Max for my rad new cinder block necklace. I sorta refuse to tak…

DIY: Malian Mud Cloth Bench

Last year, hidden away in a dusty corner of one of my favorite antique stores, I discovered this decorative wooden bench. The $20 price tag and carved details were too good to ignore and I quickly scooped it up. Even with its (original) dingy blue legs and worn crushed velvet body, I hoped that one day I could restore its soulless existence into something more appealing. After a little black paint and the beautiful design of this hand-woven Malian mud cloth, it looks better than ever!

The Leather Satchel

When Gail from The Leather Satchel Company contacted me with the amazing opportunity to choose a satchel of my choice to review, keep, and love forever I practically fell out of the chair. I'd been lusting after one of these gorgeous bags for the longest time, because while it may sound a bit unconventional, I thought it perfect for gallivanting about the sculpture park with my trusty writing supplies  swinging idly at my side. So like a springboard into the sea of opportunity, I leapt at the idea of writing about how much I adore the vintage aesthetic and sinuously detailed structure that creates an effortlessly downtown sophistication.
A family company since the late 1960s, The Leather Satchel Company strives for high-quality standards that are evident down to the stitch by their meticulously crafted leathers. What's even more amazing about these "quintessentially British" satchels is the assortment of available colors (dying over neon pink) and the 5-year artisan …
