Blood Wounded Flowers S/S 10

(Inspirational Board)

One of many reasons I love Blue Onion Marketplace luxury boutique is the tremendous versatility each piece invokes when you least expect it. Sifting through the dynamics of experimentation and innovative design, alongside the webbing art of styling/accessorizing, it's comes down to the blueprint details. So, it's no surprise that when owner, Michele Syre, contacted me, I was thrilled with the opportunity to collaborate and reconstruct the Dulken & Derrick Flower Pins she'd sent over. The only obvious answer was yes, but with vertiginous elation, I assure you.
After studying each piece and drawing from personal inspiration, Alex and I spent the afternoon immersed in our little craft vessel. Entranced. Moody. Entertained.
Ultimately, the decision to integrate some of the ominously-evocative elements of designer Carol Christian Poell as well as Dior Homme S/S 02 Boys Don't Cry/RED Collection solved all those contemplative expressions. Delving into the etherealization of Dulken & Derrick, haunting rock, wounded love, classic Chanel, pretty vs. painstakingly dirty, and a menswear slim-fit silhouette, we counterbalanced our own interpretations against such a list of exquisite designers.
We couldn't be happier with the end results. Thank you Michele... you're amazing!!!

I love the way you formatted everything...normal photos followed by the groups of polaroids. There's a wonderful dark romanticism to all of it. Your shoe shots look great. Of course the feather flower... And you finished it off with a smile! :D The inspiration board is great, too! Wonderful work, love!!!!!!!!!

The Carousel Ride

A little storytelling... A modicum of silence swallowed the room as dusty shards of sunlight patterned the multicolored carpet. Decorated with an army of garish jewelry, everything jingles, almost intentionally, as the woman perched behind the large candy counter brushes invisible lint from her blouse. Her silvery hair is the color of cotton candy. She offers a genuine smile before shifting her gaze downcast towards her slender hands. Briefly, she examines their delicate surface that is creviced by time and wiser than yesterday. At four quarters per ride, it was a small price for six minutes of uncontaminated childhood reminiscence to sweep the memory warehouse. And while we kept the company of an epoch 1920’s carousel, 60 handcrafted horses, and funky reindeer, we went round and round, faster and faster… letting it take us to those secret places we almost forgot existed. --Bella H. p.s. Wild Thing... I think I love you

When a quasi-sporadic jaunt had us regaling any amount of apathy, my lax interpretation of frugality was tested. I was supposed to be Christmas shopping, but the slightest notion only manifested a spending floodgate that swung wide-open… breaching all self-discipline. So there I was, attempting a silent negotiation, yes-no-no-yes. And just like that, the holier-than-thou shoe gods had me by Gheppetto ’s strings, and were yet again exultant. In every conceivable ( shoe predicament ) way, it seemed a publicized threat to some bizzarro stylistic-existence, and obviously some things are beyond control. In the silver lining, there’s an upside to this inadvertent gluttony because these powerhouse Maryjane’s--with their patent leather and subtle contrasting edge--will always be there, for all those untamed days ahead. Seriously, there's more to me than just savage kicks... but in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, I suppose one day, "I will literally be the woman who lived ...

Strawberry Red

Evidently, the wholly prodigious afternoon was unyielding to one simple equation... a little ingenious skirt-love + red tulle= fanfuckintastic. Let’s face it, there are certain elemental vibes of life, and obvious moments when the best you can do is embrace the only person you know how to be, and so to the beat of my own drummer, that’s my story… and I’m sticking to it.
