Art Amongst Crystals

When my very first issue of beautiful.bizarre arrived the other day, I had one of those joyful, gratifying moments in knowing my name appeared on the pages, not only as the writer of the Aaron Nagel (cover artist) article but also as Editor's Assistant. Holding it in my hands, actually experiencing the tangible beauty was surreal and wonderful. A bundle of thanks goes out to my editor, Danijela... for her thoughtfulness, generosity of spirit, and for sending this special piece of art my way.
By the way, the 1st Anniversary Issue is still available for your artsy pleasures, so please help support our magazine by ordering your copy!

Brooklyn cinder block

I want to tell you about Max Steiner, one of my favorite new designers whose visionary buoyancy sheds new light on his innate talent to see outside the box. When I was first contacted by Max, about a week ago, I did what anyone would do. I browsed his website. And as an artist, was instantly drawn to the various elements of his inspiring collections. Not only does he incorporate an organic wearability through his architectural jewelry, but the fact that he does so with such an influential voice of his everyday surroundings, adds an extraordinary amount of intimacy that's hard to come by. Thank you, Max for my rad new cinder block necklace. I sorta refuse to tak…

The Leather Satchel

When Gail from The Leather Satchel Company contacted me with the amazing opportunity to choose a satchel of my choice to review, keep, and love forever I practically fell out of the chair. I'd been lusting after one of these gorgeous bags for the longest time, because while it may sound a bit unconventional, I thought it perfect for gallivanting about the sculpture park with my trusty writing supplies  swinging idly at my side. So like a springboard into the sea of opportunity, I leapt at the idea of writing about how much I adore the vintage aesthetic and sinuously detailed structure that creates an effortlessly downtown sophistication.
A family company since the late 1960s, The Leather Satchel Company strives for high-quality standards that are evident down to the stitch by their meticulously crafted leathers. What's even more amazing about these "quintessentially British" satchels is the assortment of available colors (dying over neon pink) and the 5-year artisan …
