Everything needs it...

These shoes need it... even my plant, Luke Wright (ex-cop cage-fighter), needs it.
L o v e, we say it frequently... and while the spelling remains unchanged, it generally means something very different to the beholder. It's whispered, seductively panted, romantically cried and catapulted into communication cornucopias everywhere, having accumulated a plethora of meaning to our daily existence.
"I love this book." "I love awkward people." "I love my dogs." "I love sexting." "I love ketchup." "Ooh, I love that movie." "Oh, yeah, blah blah restaurant, I love that place." "I love my coffee, don't judge me." "I'm falling in love...and loving it."

Kittens, clowns, hot air balloons or park benches at night, deep down everyone loves something.
(Please note: I don't love ketchup)

It's okay to say it. Some people love love. And then there are those who don't necessarily anchorage any amount of conviction on the visceral notion of said feelings and yet still, on occasion, profess their enduring love of something. I mean, who cares if it's just Neapolitan ice cream on Saturday nights. Could you imagine a world without it? Love, not Neapolitan ice cream. I can't, because everything needs... it.

Counting tree rings among the leaves

You can never have too many carousel rides, too much family shenanigans, or too many silver chains wrapped around your ankle boots... Awesomeness: Okay, so I admit, when my girl Liz--the unbelievably cool, wickedly witty, gorgeous babe--over at It's Unbeweavable so thoughtfully suggested I do a Guest Post for her lovely blog… I did an unabashed little happy dance (Zeppelin in the background) and subsequently jumped, as if spring-operated, at her amazing invitation. Despite sounding like a broken record, thank you-thank you-thank you! (Vintage sequin top, Cettu bag, Jessica Simpson boots w/added chains, Miss Me Denim, Victoria's Secret eyelet shorts, Hot Topic rose ring & studded cuff, and the same-old knuckledusters I always wear-Target & TJ Maxx) *7th image: Momma bear*

Wild Thing... I think I love you

When a quasi-sporadic jaunt had us regaling any amount of apathy, my lax interpretation of frugality was tested. I was supposed to be Christmas shopping, but the slightest notion only manifested a spending floodgate that swung wide-open… breaching all self-discipline. So there I was, attempting a silent negotiation, yes-no-no-yes. And just like that, the holier-than-thou shoe gods had me by Gheppetto ’s strings, and were yet again exultant. In every conceivable ( shoe predicament ) way, it seemed a publicized threat to some bizzarro stylistic-existence, and obviously some things are beyond control. In the silver lining, there’s an upside to this inadvertent gluttony because these powerhouse Maryjane’s--with their patent leather and subtle contrasting edge--will always be there, for all those untamed days ahead. Seriously, there's more to me than just savage kicks... but in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, I suppose one day, "I will literally be the woman who lived ...

Toy Soldiers

Like a shadow, some things lurk. And much as the weekend, mutually quiet and eventful… nothing and everything makes sense when draped in funky sugarplum fairies and twinkling lights. Not our best-laid plan, we being the blithe adventuresses of the family, joined ranks with all those holiday cheermeisters and staunchly faced a teeming shopping blitz. Inextricably, the scheming afternoon wrath of cart pushers, window peekers, road ragers, and zany bargain seekers , was one such lurking moment. A harmonic hysteria of present-persuasion and shopping grandeur, I muddled through an amusing/frightening mirage, loving the extreme pandemonium… no matter how catawampus it all appeared. But like some freakish optical illusion climaxing a jolly North Pole sequel, its inevitable dusk till dawn tradition leaves me feeble-minded. So, while hunting holiday gifts and embracing yuletide paradise, I couldn’t help wondering… are we gluttons for punishment or just eager to come out and play. Who knows, but...
