The hour before the others






The small grandfather clock hanging upstairs is chiming louder than yesterday. The sound is annoying. It's seven o'clock in the morning and I've yet to sleep, so as an alternative to superfluous cyber-wandering, I'm warily word-searching. At this point, assembling even semi-comprehensible sentences is beginning to feel like a challenge. Honestly, it's a wonder I've written this much. Going to bed...

Gunmetal Laces

The hillside was far more treacherous than it actually appeared, and even though I didn’t foresee clambering up and down the jagged terrain… my 8-year-old nephew (among others in our brood) got a real kick out of thinking I was some sort of neophyte Pink Power Ranger.
