My friend, My faux

For the first time in a very long time, the temperature dropped drastically, then warmed, then dropped again… and thus freakishly ping-ponged for the rest of the afternoon. Lucky for me, this meant temporarily gallivanting about random locations while adhering to the Holy Grail decree of the autumn season… faux fur.
While risking the possible horror of never locating this perfect-for-any-era and yet slightly glamorized statement, there it was. Nearly obscured among vintage racks and a pungent days-of-yore fragrance, I’d finally found my friend, my faux. I’m guessing it’s something in the air, because I own at least half a dozen of these retro coats and moments preceding this post, became legal guardian of one more orphaned on eBay. But in this sublime parade of fashion ecstasy, I had to wonder... have I caught some sort of communicable faux fur addiction? Possibly.

Heels, UO. Zipper skirt, DIY. Pearls, Vintage & Chanel. Studded belt, HT.

Simply gorgeous! Sometimes weather-freakishness has a positive effect, clearly!

I too have found my thoughts turning to my faux... my mother's 1970s faux fur swing coat that vanishes from my mind each summer and returns with the first properly cold snap.

Sadly where I live in the UK it's been a few weeks since bare legs have been an option, and I must say my faux is also a much lusher affair more suited to Winter than Fall...

Perhaps I should follow your excellent example and browse eBay for a finer faux that might work next September in the brief in-between season moment. I would like to emulate your stylish fur-legs combination!

p.s. thanks for your comment - I'm working on posting proper "outfit" photos - just need to get a system in place!
you've styled this flawlessly. love the entire look!

I love your shoes, dear. You look gorgeous in that fur as well. Lucky, I want one soooo very bad!

I know, for me Halloween is such a cozy feeling (we actually start to get a bit of cooler weather this time of year) more family get togethers, dinner parties and candy. ;)

I watched Family Feud last night, Halloween style, it was cute. Have fun at your after party tonight, sweetie.

The Writing Wall

Affronted by a (practically) nonexistent warning sign, the weather-beaten plastic dangling idly from a nearby telephone pole, clearly stated, Private Property . Even though our previous attempt at this location resulted in a prying patrol car… the graffiti mural, a derelict carcass of a once prominent amusement park, was obviously too wicked to pass blindly. Sprinting around with certain schoolgirl giddiness, the ridiculous amount of camerawhoring was starting to feel like some new Olympic sport. But before finally fleeing the scene, we noticed the black and red letters smeared across the far right side of the building that perhaps claimed an excuse to previous visitors. ' The Devil Made Me Do It' . Disturbing to small degrees, it did seem outwardly apropos to our deviant trespassing acquisition… our forbidden spray paint entertainment. The Carousel Ride

A little storytelling... A modicum of silence swallowed the room as dusty shards of sunlight patterned the multicolored carpet. Decorated with an army of garish jewelry, everything jingles, almost intentionally, as the woman perched behind the large candy counter brushes invisible lint from her blouse. Her silvery hair is the color of cotton candy. She offers a genuine smile before shifting her gaze downcast towards her slender hands. Briefly, she examines their delicate surface that is creviced by time and wiser than yesterday. At four quarters per ride, it was a small price for six minutes of uncontaminated childhood reminiscence to sweep the memory warehouse. And while we kept the company of an epoch 1920’s carousel, 60 handcrafted horses, and funky reindeer, we went round and round, faster and faster… letting it take us to those secret places we almost forgot existed. --Bella H. p.s. Gunmetal Laces

The hillside was far more treacherous than it actually appeared, and even though I didn’t foresee clambering up and down the jagged terrain… my 8-year-old nephew (among others in our brood) got a real kick out of thinking I was some sort of neophyte Pink Power Ranger. Pity I left my blade blaster, metallic armor, and spandex suit at home. Not sure about spandex, but if you and all your friends want to start your own gang of crime fighting superheros, you'll need some matching outfits... something stylish of course.  (RTBU sweater, Topshop skirt and Emma Cook boots)
