Working on a fun new piece for an upcoming event with Copycat Violence! 

(Palette knife only- from start to finish)  This was my very first attempt with palette knife painting, and it was incredibly challenging.  There were tears, anxiety, and moments when I wanted to trash the entire project, but I didn't quit and stuck  with it until the end knowing I'd benefit from the experience. Phew, I did it!   

(Palette knife only- In progress shot)  This is the FIRST time I've ever painted with a palette knife.  It's been challenging, nerve-racking, and I've wanted to punch through the canvas a few times already...but it's also been an incredible learning experience. More to come.

Sidelong glances.   Playing with colored pencils... Story, my little studio helper... she's such good company but so bad at actually helping.

Layer, layer, layer... making some great progress on my new collection of canvas paintings. Okay, I obviously have a "thing" for Blythe dolls but they're just so darn irresistible.

  I spent quite a bit of time studying and pondering over Leonardo da Vinci's drapery studies in hopes of conveying any semblance of texture, form, and realism to her collar, my first real attempt at drawing fabric. I'm thrilled with the results, so here's another peek at this little lady's progress. Hope you like it! First look here

Sneak peek! Can you tell... I've been watching a lot of True Blood.  

It's hard to believe the first and last time I showed a sneak peek at this new drawing was back in March ... this year is zipping by in a hurry it seems. With every intention, I'm planning to post the finished piece this week, Monday at the absolute latest. Excited for everyone to see it!
