Brass flowers and stone

When my sweet friend, Jeanine, designer of Alex and Vina, sent over these gorgeous brass and floral pieces, I got excited about the idea of photographing them in bright light. So when sun finally decided to make a special appearance with its 62-degree temperature, we headed out to let them sparkle.
My first thought was contrasting color palettes by coupling the look with brown heels, but then I couldn't stop looking at me feet when I wanted more focus on the jewelry, so I went back to the closet and back to basics with the discovery of these Steve Madden boots. Her collection is so well conceptualized, and completely committed to enduring repeat wear that I felt compelled to put it in the vein as some of my other go-to favorites... like satin coral for added beachiness. Subsequently pulled it all together with the universal denim style staple and then realized I was mishmashing a little bit, which I kinda love.

(Miss Me denim jacket, Alex and Vina Flowers and Stone ring and White Tridacna Stone Multi Chain bracelet, Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses, Steve Madden A-Yoko boots, Forever 21 tights, H&M ruffle vest, American Apparel bodysuit, Victoria's Secret tap pants)

The Body

You can barely see it in the last post , so here's a clearer picture of   what I've been working on in my new art studio... not that it hasn't come with little stop your heart stress moments.   The first time I attempted this piece, now referred to as The Body , was mutually as terrifying as it was exhilarating. It was the first full hand drawing I'd ever attempted, and everything was going smoothly until the moment I decided to incorporate oil paint, also the first in my artwork experiences. My grandmother was an award-winning artist, but now, without her wealth of knowledge and go-to advise, this is really a learning/teach yourself process. The drawing was done and exactly how I wanted it, the hair and tights were painted, and the final stages involved adding skin and the completion of the tattoos.   I didn't go in naively, I understood that it would inevitably boil down to the dynamics of trial and error, so I inhaled deeply and began creating my palette. Jeffrey Campbell x Solestruck Box It Up

I bet many of you heard about (or even entered) the Jeffrey Campbell x Solestruck Box It Up challenge that took place last month that's giving one lucky person the opportunity to score $1000 worth of JC shoes and be the inspiration for the next shoebox design. And while I think they're still in the process of narrowing down three top finalists to display via their Facebook page for voters to decide the grand winner, I thought I'd take a second and share my entry with you! About my design: When I first learned of the challenge via e-mail, I got super excited at the prospect of designing and illustrating something that would appeal to the masses amongst our little shoe-obsessed demographic. I get asked a lot of interesting questions regarding my own shoe collection, so I spent the afternoon rummaging through the multicolored stacks of shoeboxes and paying particular attention the many labeled Jeffrey Campbell. The search for inspiration wasn’t difficult, and soon I knew ex
