This piece is actually from late 2012, but between my crazy new fitness program, preparing for my first gallery show in August and a whole lotta new art coming your way... things get busy. So it was definitely time to finally share... and she's also available in my art shop!
Last year, hidden away in a dusty corner of one of my favorite antique stores, I discovered this decorative wooden bench. The $20 price tag and carved details were too good to ignore and I quickly scooped it up. Even with its (original) dingy blue legs and worn crushed velvet body, I hoped that one day I could restore its soulless existence into something more appealing. After a little black paint and the beautiful design of this hand-woven Malian mud cloth, it looks better than ever!
