G L A M O R O U S

I have a sweet tooth.
Stephani, owner and jewelry designer of Glamorous Republik, sent over a few pieces from her magical collection and everything reminds me of a pretty little candy cliffhanger you can't wait to get back to. With a flirtatious aesthetic that's hard to resist, they meld effortlessly into the various styles and silhouettes already existing within my wardrobe. To make things even sweeter, there's the aggregate structure of beads and charms that balance every last glamorous detail, and each time I look at them, I notice something I hadn't before. I love that.

What inspires your collection?
One of my favorite places to visit is Melrose Ave, in California. Many girls there are always dressed edgy and punk, however they look so put together and pretty at the same time. They may have piercings, chains, and tattoos all over them, but also have light pink hair, a pretty dress, and hello kitty hair bows at the same time. While visiting again this summer, I got the inspiration to do Glam Rokk. I thought it would be nice to have a pretty line with a punk edge just like the people that I thought were so cute and interesting in Melrose.

What can we anticipate seeing for the New Year?
I am always looking for more pretty and unique beads for new lines. I have started working on my next line called 'Tea Party', and it will be pink and girly. The line will also include floral beads, white Lucite cubes that look like fine china, and royal blue mixed in. Something every girl will need to own at least one piece of.

Jeffrey Campbell x Solestruck Box It Up

I bet many of you heard about (or even entered) the Jeffrey Campbell x Solestruck Box It Up challenge that took place last month that's giving one lucky person the opportunity to score $1000 worth of JC shoes and be the inspiration for the next shoebox design. And while I think they're still in the process of narrowing down three top finalists to display via their Facebook page for voters to decide the grand winner, I thought I'd take a second and share my entry with you! About my design: When I first learned of the challenge via e-mail, I got super excited at the prospect of designing and illustrating something that would appeal to the masses amongst our little shoe-obsessed demographic. I get asked a lot of interesting questions regarding my own shoe collection, so I spent the afternoon rummaging through the multicolored stacks of shoeboxes and paying particular attention the many labeled Jeffrey Campbell. The search for inspiration wasn’t difficult, and soon I knew ex

The Writing Wall

Affronted by a (practically) nonexistent warning sign, the weather-beaten plastic dangling idly from a nearby telephone pole, clearly stated, Private Property . Even though our previous attempt at this location resulted in a prying patrol car… the graffiti mural, a derelict carcass of a once prominent amusement park, was obviously too wicked to pass blindly. Sprinting around with certain schoolgirl giddiness, the ridiculous amount of camerawhoring was starting to feel like some new Olympic sport. But before finally fleeing the scene, we noticed the black and red letters smeared across the far right side of the building that perhaps claimed an excuse to previous visitors. ' The Devil Made Me Do It' . Disturbing to small degrees, it did seem outwardly apropos to our deviant trespassing acquisition… our forbidden spray paint entertainment.
